This competition is open to students and community members in one of the 19 Texas counties that make up the Big Country region. See a list of eligible counties here. All participants must either be a full-time student or a permanent resident in this area.
- Important Dates
The final day to register for the competition is March 21, 2012. All teams must submit their mini-business plans by March 28, 2012. Finalists will be notified of their advancement on April 9, 2012, and will present their business plans to the judges on April 14, 2012. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 17, 2012.
- Competition Prizes
Prizes in the community track range from a $1,000 non-profit prize to the $50,000 grand prize.
Prizes in the college track range from a $1,000 non-profit prize to a $10,000 grand prize.
Prizes in the high school track range from a $100 Values Award to a $1,000 grand prize.

The mini-business plan, required to be submitted by participants in the community and college divisions, is a brief document that should address the fundamental issues that would be of interest to potential investors. It should highlight the most important and interesting points of the business, which should give potential investors a general understanding of why this venture would succeed.
