Who's Eligible

Open to students enrolled in a degree program in the current academic year. At least one graduate student must be a member of each venture's management team. Presenting teams should not exceed five students. 

Important Dates

The deadline to submit the Application, Executive Summary and Video Pitch is March 1, 2012 (extended). 42 teams will be announced to compete on March 12, 2012, and must submit their written business plans by March 19, 2012. The business plan competition will take place at Rice University on April 12 - 14, 2012

Competition Prizes

A total of over $1.3 million in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. The Grand Prize package is valued at over $600,000.

Other Info

This is the 12th year for the business plan competition. In that time, it has grown from nine teams competing for $10,000 in prize money in 2001, to 42 teams from around the world competing for more than $1.3 million in cash and prizes.
