Who's Eligible
The contest is open to all UW-Madison undergraduate and masters students who will be enrolled full time during fall semester. Each contestant or team will develop an original idea in the broad area of wireless technology into a process or object. The idea can be a composition-of-matter, device, design, process, etc.
Important Dates

Contestants should register to compete by October 15, 2010. Each team may submit a proposal requesting funds to cover part of the costs (up to $1,000) of building a prototype for the competition. These proposals are due by February 1, 2011. Final projects must be turned in by April 1, 2011, and judging will take place on April 28, 2011. Winners will be announced the following day.

Competition Prizes


  • First Prize $10,000
  • Second Prize $5,000
  • Third Prize $2,500


Other Info

All teams are expected, but not required, to also participate in the G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition held on April 29, 2011. A team with the best wireless technology idea and with a good business plan for the technology may win prizes in both competitions.
