Open to all individual or team entrants with a home residence in Sonoma, Napa, or Martin Counties. In the case of a team, not every member must meet this residency requirement as long as the majority of the team are residents of this area.
Business ventures should propose a significant opportunity in a large market.
- Important Dates
The deadline to register for the competition is March 5, 2012. At least one member of each team is required to attend two workshop sessions, held on March 8 and 15, 2012. Draft business plans are due on April 9, 2012. Those teams selected to submit final business plans will pitch to the judges on April 30, 2012, at which time four track winners will be chosen. These track winners will make pitch presentations at the showcase event on June 1, 2012, after which a "people's choice" winner will be chosen.

The scope of prize packages for the 2012 competition has not yet been announced, but will include both cash and in-kind prizes.

Originally know as The Seed Round, this competition is entering its second year.
All entries will be classified into four tracks -
- Life Sciences
- Energy and Cleantech
- Goods and Services
Each team will also be assigned a mentor who will provide both written and in-person feedback on the team's business plan.
