- Who's Eligible
Anyone can participate, but in order to be eligible to win an award, at least 1/3 of each team must be full-time Massachusetts Institute of Technology Students. Each team must work with a community partner to identify a global problem and potential solution.
- Important Dates
Teams can submit an Initial Scope Statement by one of four deadlines in late 2011 and early 2012, but the final deadline to submit is March 23, 2012. Advancing teams must submit a proposal by April 8, 2012. The final Challenge will take place on April 30, 2012, with an awards celebration on May 3, 2012.
- Competition Prizes
Three types of awards are given out: Juried Global Challenge Awards, Community Choice Awards, and Juried IDEAS awards. Prize values vary.

The IDEAS Global Challenge offers a window into innovation at MIT and invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their collaborators to identify and address community development challenges through innovation and collaboration in communities around the world.
