Who's Eligible

Entries must involve a technology, product, service, or process that belongs to one of the clean energy categories accepted by the competition. Entries must describe an entirely new business. Existing businesses are not eligible for this competition. 

At least 50% of each team must be enrolled at least half-time at an accredited U.S. university or college. 

Important Dates

All submissions are due on March 2, 2012. Finals judging will take place on April 29, 2012, following a mentorship period. The grand prize winner will be chosen on April 30, 2012

Competition Prizes

Each Finals Category Winner (Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Deployment & Infastructure) will win $20,000. The Grand Prize winner will receive $200,000 and will also advance to the National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition.

The MIT Clean Energy Prize is an educational platform for innovation, entrepreneurship and new venture creation in the clean energy space. It is co-sponsored by NSTAR and the U.S. Department of Energy.
