- Who's Eligible
Any individual 18 or older who is NOT a University of Pennsylvania or Graduate School Education staff member, administrator, or other employee.
This competition encourages applications in every conceivable educational setting – from early childhood through corporate/adult training, in settings and contexts anywhere in the world. Submissions can address issues of curriculum, instruction, educator professional development, assessment and evaluation, collaborations, learning design, technological innovations, learning/school support tools, and more.
- Important Dates
Executive summaries are due on December 12, 2011. All participants chosen to advance as semi-finalists must submit a full business plan by March 16, 2012. Finalists will be announced by May 4, 2012, and will present in the live competition on June 19, 2012, in Philadelphia.
- Competition Prizes
First overall business plan prize: $25,000
Second overall business plan prize: $15,000
Startl Prize for Open Educational Resources: $25,000
American Public University System Prize: $25,000

In evaluating business plan submissions, the judges will consider the importance of the educational problem, the creativity and feasibility of the proposed solution, and the potential for widespread impact.
