- Who's Eligible
- IDEA is open to all Northwest Minnesotans whether they are residents, former residents, students, alumni, faculty, etc. The competition is restricted to individuals or businesses who plan to locate their venture in Northwest Minnesota. IDEA includes the following the counties of Northwest Minnesota: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau. The product or service idea needs to be economically viable, and it cannot violate or infringe on the copyright or intellectual property of another.
- Important Dates
Applications for Round 1 of the competition are due November 30, 2010. Final business plans, financials, and PowerPoint presentations are due March 31, 2011. Final judging will take place on May 3, 2011, and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 4, 2011.
- Competition Prizes
The competition awards as many as five $10,000 prizes each year to winning ideas.
- Other Info
There is a $150 application fee attached to entering the competition.
