Who's Eligible

Open to new, independent, for-profit ventures in the seed or start-up stages in located in Des Moines County, Iowa. 

Important Dates

The registration period is open until February 17, 2012. Finalists will be chosen and announced the week of April 2, 2012, following the submission of 1st draft business plans.  Final drafts of business plans are due from finalists on April 27,2012. Finalists will present their business plans on May 10, 2012. Awards will be announced at the Small Business Appreciation Breakfast on May 18, 2012. 

Competition Prizes

A prize pool of $9,000 will be distributed as reimbursable grants among the winning plans. 

Other Info

Participants begin by enrolling in the “Writing a Winning Business Plan” course offered by Southeastern Community College and CBIZ.  After the class, participants have about three weeks to prepare a first draft.
