Teams can be comprised of graduate and undergraduate students from any university or college in the world.
- Important Dates
Five finalist teams will travel to the University of Texas at Austin to present their plans in May 2011.
- Competition Prizes
A grand prize of $50,000 in seed funding will be given to the overall winner. Second place receives $20,000 and third place receives $10,000.
An additional prize of $10,000 will be awarded to a plan that addresses the environment, and $10,000 goes with the Dell Technology Award.

The competition consists of three stages. In the first stage, participants register online and submit a brief description of their venture. All venture descriptions will be posted online for anyone to view, comment, and vote on. The top ten most popular projects automatically move on to the semi-finals, along with up to 90 others selected by the judges. In the next stage, semifinalist teams will develop their ideas into venture plans and will submit a 3-minute video pitch of their plan. Again, these are viewed by the judging panel AND anyone who wants to vote on them. Five finalist projects will be selected fly to Austin, Texas to pitch their venture plans. All finalists receive Dell prizes and one team will win the $50,000 grand prize!
