Who's Eligible

Each participating team's leader must be a student at a Connecticut college or university. Each team must have a faculty adviser.

Ventures must have year-to-date sales under $50,000 to eligible. 

Important Dates

Teams must submit entry materials by April 11, 2012. Finalists will be announced on April 17, 2012. The final competition, during which finalists will give three-minute powerpoint pitches, will take place on April 20, 2012

Competition Prizes

Two $1,000 prizes will be awarded - one to the best personal business plan, and one to the best Venture business plan. 

Two $500 prizes will be awarded to the best presentations in each of the two categories, as well as two $500 prizes to the best online submission in each of the categories. 

A $5,000 "Best In Show" prize will also be awarded. 

Other Info

Teams can enter into either the Personal business category or the Venture business category. 

Personal businesses are typically small, serve a limited market, and serve small businesses or consumers. Venture enterprises are generally higher risk, take longer to start up and require more capital but have higher potential returns.
