- Who's Eligible
There are two tracks in this competition: Student and Early Stage.
In the Student Challenge, at least 50% of each team must be enrolled at a university or college from the Midwest. Teams can contain faculty and non-students, but only students may present the business to the judges.
The Early Stage track is open to early-stage companies located in the Midwest region. Companies must have raised less than $1 million in funding to be eligible, and the businesses must include technology in one of eleven "green" categories.
- Important Dates
The deadline to submit applications for both tracks of the competition is December 5, 2011. Finalist teams will be chosen in January 2012, and the final event will take place in Chicago in March 2012.
- Competition Prizes
Early stage companies will comepte for $100,000 in prizes. Students will compete for a $100,000 Grand Prize and five $10,000 runner-up prizes.
- Other Info
Teams competing in the Student Challenge will vie for an opportunity to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s first-ever national business competition for university students.
