Submitted proposals must be to establish or expand a non-profit organization, a for-profit organization with a significant social benefit, or a project under an already existing organization. The primary purpose must be to address a social issue in Washington, D.C.
- Important Dates
Executive summaries must be submitted by October 21, 2011. Finalists will be selected and notified on November 14, 2011 and must submit their venture plans by January 6, 2012. Finalist presentations and winner announcements will also take place in January 2012.
- Competition Prizes
The top two ventures in this business plan competition will share a prize package of more than $50,000 in funding, services, and resources.

This year, the Bright Idea Challenge is seeking ideas in two categories: Healthy Living and Employment Opportunities for DC residents.
