Who's Eligible

Teams must be formed of up to five full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students from Brigham Young University. The competition is for new, independent ventures in the seed, start-up, or early growth stage. 

It is strongly suggested that all teams utilize an outside professional mentor. Teams selected as semi-finalists will be required to obtain a mentor. 
Important Dates

Business plans must be submitted no later than February 15, 2011. After a semi-finalist presentation round, the top 3 plans will move on and present their final business plans to a judges panel on April 1, 2011. Awards will be announced immediately following the presentations.

Competition Prizes

Prizes to be awarded will consist of both cash and in-kind services.

  • 1st place: $50,000
  • 2nd place: $30,000
  • 3rd place: $20,000

$19,000 in additional prizes will be awarded to outstanding business plans in specific categories (Web, Home-based, and Global) as well.

Other Info

Several workshops and mentoring events will be held for the participants of this year's competition .
